Sports Technical & Administration Personnel Development

The Academy is mandated by the Sports Act of 2011 to organize, administer, and coordinate sports courses for technical and sports administration personnel.

Target Groups

The Academy prioritizes building the capacity of the following sports technical and administration personnel:

  • Sports officials (team managers, coaches, referees, umpires, trainers, chaperons)
  • Teachers (physical education teachers, games teachers)
  • Transitioning and retired athletes
  • Sports volunteers
  • Sports administrators
  • Sports medics
  • Sports psychologists
  • Sports marketers
  • Sports journalists
  • Sports nutritionists
  • Selection Criteria

The Academy applies the following criteria to select technical and administration personnel for training programs:

  • Fresh entrants: Non-trained personnel without skills or training
  • Beginners: Fresh candidates with a background in a specific sport or athletes transitioning to technical roles
  • Existing technical personnel with some level of training progressing to higher levels
  • Sports technical and administration personnel engaged by KAS identified for advancement in their training
  • Trained personnel retooling in different areas of sport or specialization

Admission Process

All trainees are admitted through the following admission process:

  • Document verification
  • Fee payment where applicable
  • Registration
  • Allocation of materials/accommodation
  • Orientation and commencement of training

Trainees’ Profile

The Academy’s Information Management System is used to monitor the performance profile of the trainees, which includes:

  • Personal details
  • Qualifications
  • Work experience
  • Interest areas
  • Achievements
  • Special awards and recognition

Training Progression and Exposure Programs

The training progression of sports technical and administration personnel is based on:

  • Modules with credit transfers
  • Practical experience
  • Age of the trainee

Trainees’ Code of Conduct

All technical and administration trainees follow the KAS code of conduct, in addition to other sport-specific or profession-related guidelines.
