National Youth Talent Academy
The National Youth Talent Academy (NYTA) was created in 2010 as an intervention to empower the youth after the post-election violence in 2007. It was jointly coordinated by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Ministry of Education and UNICEF to identify and develop talent among the youth as a socio-economic empowerment programme for descent livelihood. Upon enactment of the SportsAct, KAS took over the sports talent development functions of NYTA.
Established
The Kenya Academy of Sports (KAS) was established through Sports Act 2013

perform any other function appertaining to a foregoing. The Kenya Academy of Sports is a successor of the functions of talent development transited from predecessor government department and program explained below. The Department of Sports (DoS) was established through a presidential decree in 1988 after the successful hosting of all Africa games in 1987.Talent development
.......programmes and training sports technical and administration personnel were conducted throughout the country in every District until 2013 when these functions were transited to KAS. Kenya National Sports Institute (KNSI) was established in 1996 as a unit within Department of Sports to organize and coordinate sports courses for sports technical and administration personnel, conduct research with the aim of enhancing professionalism in sports.
