The Kenya Academy of Sports (KAS) is a government agency established by the Sports Act, 2013. Its mandate is to develop and implement a national sports talent identification and development program. The Academy is also tasked with providing support to sports federations and associations to enhance the performance of Kenyan athletes at the national, regional, and international levels.

Mandate
To establish and manage sports training academies, train sports technical and administration personnel and conduct research in sports.
Functions
- Establish and manage sports training academies;
- Organize, administer and coordinate sports courses for technical and sports administration personnel;
- Promote research and development of talent in sports, in collaboration with institutions of higher learning, national sports organizations and other stakeholders;
- Collect, collate, store and disseminate tangible and intangible historical sports material to the public, sports organizations, researchers and institutions of learning;
- Receive and analyze data on training requirements from sports organizations;
- Link with other institutions and organizations for regular updates on the current sports trends;
- Perform any other function that may directly or indirectly contribute to the attainment of the foregoing.
