As part of our continued mission to develop and empower sports at the grassroots level, we at the Kenya Academy of Sports (KAS), in partnership with the Kenya Secondary School Sports Association (KSSSA), successfully conducted a nationwide training program for Sports Technical Personnel throughout the month of April 2025.

The trainings were hosted in Garissa, Eldoret, Nyeri, Machakos, and Kwale, which served as regional centers for participants drawn from a wide range of surrounding counties. This approach allowed us to reach a broad spectrum of educators across the country, ensuring national impact through localized access.
Our focus was on equipping secondary school teachers with basic coaching skills across various sports disciplines including athletics, football, volleyball, and basketball. These teachers play a vital role in talent identification and development, and by enhancing their technical capacity, we are laying a stronger foundation for the future of sports in Kenya.

We designed the training sessions to be practical, engaging, and directly applicable to school environments. By building the skills of educators on the ground, we are not only improving school sports programs but also strengthening the early stages of Kenya’s talent pipeline.

Our strong collaboration with KSSSA was key to the success of this initiative. Their support enabled us to mobilize teachers from across all regions, creating an inclusive and far-reaching program. Hosting the training in regional centers also allowed us to respond more effectively to the unique sporting needs and opportunities present in different parts of the country.
This program is a reflection of our ongoing commitment to sustainable sports development through capacity building. By investing in teachers as technical personnel, we are ensuring that young athletes across Kenya receive the guidance, mentorship, and support they need to thrive.
We look forward to expanding these efforts and continuing to work closely with our partners to promote excellence in sports at all levels.
